Reading VIPERS for parents

We are using Boom Readers to record your reading this year. Click on the following folder for information for parents.

PE Days

For Autumn 2 our PE days are:

Westwood - Tuesday and Friday

Heath - Monday and Tuesday

Beach - Tuesday and Wednesday

We would like children to have their PE kit in school every day, however, we understand that they do need washing.

P.E. kits will be sent home at the end of each term.

Recommended Reads

Many parents have asked if we can recommend age-appropriate challenging texts for their child.

Spelling

Your child will be using the Spelling Shed app for weekly spelling games. Please talk to your teachers if you need help with this.

Times Tables

They should continue to learn and practice their times tables at home as they will be frequently tested at school to ensure their progress. Tables are key to success in mathematics in both year 5 and 6.

Reading

They should also be reading at home for 20 minutes each day for 4 days. Please record your child’s reading on Boom Reader! How many points will you win for the reading arcade?!

Year 5 Termly Updates

Autumn Term 1

We are currently enjoying exploring the words of Shakespeare and his tale of Romeo and Juliet. We were lucky enough to watch a fantastic performance of this in school!

We are also looking forward to our next text; 'Boys Who Dare to be Different'.

We have enjoyed thinking about heroes this half term and looked at the story of Pip the Guide dog. We were thrilled to be joined by Tom who came to see us to talk all about his own guide dog!
